| Funding Guidelines |
 |
Successful grant seekers will meet the following guidelines:
- the non-profit organization must have a current 501(c)3 IRS certification. Non-profit schools may also submit funding requests.
- the organization must be based in the Puget Sound community of Washington state that it serves. We do not fund offshoots of national organizations.
- the program for which an organization seeks funding will serve at-risk or under-served youth (elementary through high school) in one or more of the following areas: reading, writing, math, critical thinking, science, homework assistance or educational readiness or enrichment.
- the request should be for specific programs or projects rather than operating expenses.
- well-run, successful grassroots programs lacking substantial funding are given priority over those more high-profile and well-financed programs or organizations.
- grants range from $2,000 to $10,000. First-time grants do not exceed $5,000. It is possible to have funding renewed each year after re-application.
- grantees must agree to submit a report on the funded program one year after receipt of the grant.
