An in-school program that works with talented, low-income, first-generation-to-college students who are navigating the college application and financial aid process.   • Friends of the Children. Seattle, WA. A long-term mentoring program that pairs qualified adult counselors with selected at-risk kindergarten students from Seattle's Central District. Each child receives fourteen hours of mentoring each month, until s/he graduates from high school prepared for post-secondary education.www.friendskc.org
  • Garden Raised Bounty. Olympia, WA. Cultivating Youth. An education, empowerment and employment program for at-risk high school students that is centered on producing, marketing and selling organic produce. This grant will support expansion of the program.www.goodgrub.org

  • Seattle Aquarium Society. Seattle, WA. Citizen Science program. An inquiry-based marine science education program on local beaches throughout the Puget Sound region.
